Ranger's Apprentice: Erak Starfollower [ISTJ]

Introverted Sensing (Si): Erak needs solid reasoning and evidence in order for him to change his ways. His mantra could be, "When in doubt, do as you have always done." He is not afraid of change per se, but he doesn't trust it without understanding exactly why it is necessary.  He values the traditions of the scandians highly, even the ones he doesn't like. The old stories are important to him, such as the story that the tides are caused by a whale, or the belief that a scandian who dies without a weapon in his hands can't make it to Valhalla.

Extroverted Thinking (Te): Erak's wolfship crew trust his leadership and when he becomes Oberjarl so do his scandian subjects. He understands the need for order in a society of independent raiders and carries out discipline swiftly and simply. His tactics in battle are solid but uncomplicated, usually consisting of straightforward "lets get em boys!" He raids villages for practical reasons, simply seeing it as a means to an end. To him raiding is just way to provide for himself and his crew just like any other man tries to make a living.

Introverted Feeling (Fi): As a scandian Erak values his independence. He feels entitled to his own personal code, which labels raiding as acceptable but warmweed as evil. He quickly takes a liking to Will and Evenlyn and respects their courage, eventually helping them escape slavery even though he captured them in the first place. His word is his bond and it is an unspoken assumption that he would never break it.

Extroverted (Ne): Erak is often the first scandian to break the mold. He helps Will and Evenlyn escape, proving that he doesn't stick to traditions that he strongly disagrees with. His plan to help them escape uses various factors to confuse any scandians who might follow them. He is one of the first to accept Halt's help, correctly deducing that scandia will fall to the temujai without him.
